CAPTAIN’S DRIVE IN Sunday 8th October 2006.
Following the Clubs AGM on Saturday 7th October Brian Robinson and Anne Mitchell passed their Captaincy over to Doug Littlewood and Lesley Nickolds.
The Drive – In took place on the Sunday 8th October which started by Anne Mitchell and Brian Robinson playing there final shots in office. This consisted of putting out on the 18th Green with old style putters kindly supplied by Steve Lloyd. Anne putted first and from the top of the Green lagged to within 6 feet before Brian tactfully put his 8 foot away. After each taking a further putt and narrowly missing the hole, both conceded each other their putt for a honourable half.
The assembled Members then made there way to the 16th Tee to welcome Lesley Nickolds and Doug Littlewood and watch them Drive – In.
As is traditional they used old wooden woods and Lesley drove her drive low and straight down the middle and Doug took the more scenic approach with a higher shot that landed a similar distance away.
Everyone attending sponsored a marker as to where the New Captain’s drive would land on the fairway and monies raised went to the Captain’s chosen Charity which this year which is Cherry Trees.
The Shot Gun Competition then started and was eventually won by Hansoon Curtis, Gill Beaton, Norman Foster and Peter Moon with a fine score of 111.
Thanks to everyone who helped in making the event an enjoyable day and a successful fundraiser for a very worthy cause.
